The details are still flowing in, but we have gotten confirmation from our Anaheim
contacts that the new Snuggie world record has been set. Officially this is the
"largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets" according to the Guinness
Book of World Records.
The previous record holder of course was the Cleveland Cavaliers, on March 5, 2010.
The Cavs handed out a little over 20,000 Snuggie blankets to fans; the promotion
was sponsored by KeyBank.
But like all great sports records, this was one that was meant to be broken. The
Angels were expecting to hand out more than 40,000 complimentary Hideki Matsui
"Blankie" sleeved blankets.
Congratulations to the Anaheim Angels and there efforts (although we're guessing
not intentional) to keep promoting our favorite blanket with sleeves, the Snuggie
