The Anaheim Angels have issued a press release stating that "On Tuesday April 6, 2010, the Angels will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the 'largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets.' All fans in attendance at the Angels vs. Minnesota Twins game (7:05PM) will receive a complimentary Hideki Matsui Blankie courtesy of Konica Minolta.
As you probably already know, the Cleveland Cavaliers set (and created) the Guinness World Record on March 5. The official number of people wearing a fleece was 17,758.
Unlike some of the great sports records like Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game, Rocky Marciano's 49-0 record, and Cy Young's 511 wins, we knew the "largest gathering of people wearing a fleece blanket" record was meant to be broken. Assuming that Angels are successful, who will try to dethrone the champ? Our office pool says that citizens of Canada will soon be equipped with a sleeved blanket – setting the new record at 33,311,389.
